Island Bay local Andy Spain opens his home studio for the South Coast Arts Trail this September.

With a background in architectural photography and a deep love for Wellington’s built environment, Andy’s work captures moody, cinematic moments in urban spaces. His art photography explores themes of place, memory, and atmosphere — often drawing on the stillness of night, the beauty of shadows, and the quiet drama of architecture.

Andy’s practice spans fine art prints, moving image, and commissioned photography for architects and designers. He recently exhibited at the National Library and is a finalist at the National Contemporary Art Awards in Hamilton. He creates limited edition prints that are collected both locally and overseas.
