Helen Williamson

Helen creates expressive, semi-abstract paintings that pulse with energy and emotion. Her creative practice is shaped by a deep appreciation for fleeting moments—when light, colour, and form converge in an evocative and joyful dance. Whether capturing plants and flowers at their peak of spring enthusiasm, the rich textures of local landscapes, or the colourful layers of a bird’s plumage, she seeks to express the beauty in these transient scenes.

Helen holds a Degree in Fine Art and has exhibited widely in Wellington and Auckland, winning the Wellington Emerging Artist of the Year Award in 2011. Her work is also held in collections in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, USA. For the past 15 years, she has lived in Island Bay with her husband and two children, continually inspired by the ever-changing light and dynamic weather of Wellington’s coastline.
