Kees Busch

Kees has been painting for over twenty five years, the last sixteen from his studio in Island Bay. He uses acrylics on fine canvas and works with much detail, producing about four works per year. Abstract symbols and strong colours are the pictorial language of his paintings. Some images may reoccur, while others are developed for a particular work.

Kees’ work is inspired by how dreams can heal and the complexities of relationships. He’s also painted the joy of a song floating from a window and the continuation of a matriarchy. All are unseen things, except as conceived on his canvases. Kees’ art work wraps abstract form and colour around that which is emotional and invisible. For a moment we glimpse how dreams, memories, and hopes, might look like if they were able to materialise.
