Ruth Copeland

Ruth is a screen print artist living in a tiny home perched on the Esplanade, along the south coast. Her windows hover directly over the ocean, offering a constant kaleidoscope of colour, light, and movement. Each shift in the sea and sky brings new inspiration — the daily rhythms of nature are her muse and her joy.

Much of Ruth’s work celebrates the iconic Island Bay coastline, a place of wild energy and quiet beauty that she feels deeply connected to. The silhouette of Tapu Te Ranga Island, the shimmer of tidal light, or the pull of deep blues are often found in her prints.

Ruth’s prints may spark a moment of recognition — and a fresh appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.

When visiting come up the double red gates to the left of the front house, I am in the tiny home behind. Be very careful on the steep stairs, use the rope handrail.
